Community

DEYA encourages its staff to play an active part in the local community by helping out in local projects. We are regarded as a company that has good relationships with the local community.

Community

Charitable Donations

We aim to help Children and families with specific needs, Local organisations, Environmental and Education projects. We donate one day a year of employee’s time to help out with a local community project, and donate money to deserving registered charities annually in December.

Criteria

DEYA will consider applications that are local to our offices in Wokingham or local to any of our field-workers throughout the country who are involved or have a connection with a registered charity.

Please note that a line has to be drawn on our choice of charities, even though they may be equally as deserving as those listed above. We regret that we will decline applications for:

  • Salaries and training costs
  • Animal welfare organisations and charities
  • Sporting and religious bodies unless the proposal is community based, non-denominational in its approach and independent
  • Political bodies

Applications

All requests should be addressed to the Office Manager and include the following information:

  • The aims and objectives of the organisation charity
  • The target audience of the project
  • How many people will benefit?
  • How DEYA can make a difference
  • Can we support with match funding?

Please note whether you have any connections with DEYA, for example as a deliverer.

Activity Days

DEYA staff volunteer for an annual activity day to provide support for local community projects. We are often joined by volunteer staff from our clients such as Yellow Pages who are based nearby. DEYA normally purchase the materials required for the day.

Activity days in recent years have included:

  • Painting all seven rooms of a bungalow at Emmbrook Junior School to transform it into a children's play den for after-school and holiday clubs.
  • Painting a (very!) long fence in a variety of colours at Westende Junior School
  • Coppicing a local nature reserve at Dinton Pastures
  • Weeding, re-styling and re-planting four garden areas at Wokingham hospital (up there with Alan Titchmarsh and Charlie Dimmock)
  • Painting and decorating the dining room and lounge area of the WADE daycare centre, which is dedicated to caring for the elderly, including those with dementia, and their carers
  • Clearing gutters, tidying borders and beds at Sale Garden Cottages retirement complex in Wokingham
